Recently, a station from Reddit idiosyncratic black_beard6969 connected the fashionable Ask Reddit forum caught my eye. In it, they asked people, "What is simply a wholly untrue humanities 'fact' that radical inactive judge to beryllium real?" and the answers were some entertaining and informative. I decided I had to share, truthful present are immoderate of the best:
1. "The story that Einstein was a atrocious pupil and peculiarly atrocious astatine math. Nope. He was a large student. The story has a fewer roots, but immoderate of them necktie backmost to a misunderstanding of the grading standard of the schoolhouse helium went to astatine the time, arsenic good arsenic immoderate comments helium made during his beingness astir however helium disliked rote learning and different accepted teaching approaches that benignant of made it dependable similar helium had an axe to grind with respect to his puerility education."

3. "The story that everyone joined arsenic teenagers successful the medieval period. It turns retired that teenage marriages were chiefly successful the precocious people for dynastic reasons, and peasants mostly joined successful their mid-20s. The municipality tradesmen people had the men marrying adjacent later, arsenic nary household would fto their girl wed a antheral who was not definite to person a commercialized to enactment her (and astatine immoderate points the 'journeyman' signifier of grooming was virtually traveling hundreds of miles to larn from galore masters).
4. "People knew the Earth was circular from ancient times. It wasn't thing they abruptly figured retired during the Renaissance."

8. "The Lusitania truly was transporting weapons, contempt US denials. The ethical statement is past astir whether a rider liner being utilized arsenic a quality shield to transport warfare munitions done a warfare portion is simply a lawful subject target. But it wasn't simply a rider ship. There truly were weapons connected board."
10. "'Let them devour cake' is simply a lie. It wasn't Marie Antoinette who said it, but Jean-Jacques Rousseau. It wasn't 'cake' but 'brioche' (sweet bread). And it was, of course, said successful French, not English: 'Qu'ils mangent de la brioche.'"
11. "Thanks to existent Hollywood tropes, everyone thinks the medieval play was drab, and everyone wore brownish oregon achromatic clothing, and the peasants lone wore soiled clothes. The world was that radical successful the medieval play wore each sorts of bright, colorful clothing. Some of the colour combinations would beryllium seen arsenic gaudy with our modern sensibilities and benignant choices. The lone happening restricting people's prime of colour was the cost and trouble of getting clasp of definite colored dyes and, successful immoderate places, sumptuary laws that strictly defined however people could formal depending connected their societal standing."

I don't cognize however communal this content was, but I retrieve successful simple schoolhouse being taught that if Germany had won, they would person taken implicit everything. We really person details of their ambitions and saw immoderate of it with the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. They beauteous overmuch wanted Luxembourg and Belgium (as a puppet state); immoderate territories successful France, Poland, the Baltic States, Ukraine, and Belarus successful Europe; and immoderate territories successful Africa and the Pacific. Or, successful different words, they were your emblematic 19th-century European imperial power."

"His sanction should person been synonymous with bid incompetence and the dangers of allowing unhinged, moronic narcissists into positions of power. The lone crushed for the utter story of "Custer's past stand" was his widow, a charismatic pistillate who invented a wholly bullshit communicative astir bravery successful the look of savagery and performed this bullshit for Congress and the president, who utilized it arsenic an excuse and rallying outcry to dramatically summation anti-indigenous measures."
